Fashion Icon: Olsen Twins

 

I don’t think there’s anyone’s style that I love as much as I love Mary Kate and Ashley Olsen’s style. For years, they have been fashion inspirations, with both their personal style and their two clothing lines, Elizabeth and James and The Row. I think the Olsens have mastered both dressed up style and casual. You see them wearing a lot of denim, prints, big scarves, classic handbags and six inch heels. Even when their outfit is combined of a ton of layers, they always manage to look put together. I am a big fan of both of their clothing lines as well. A lot of the clothes are very simple and classic. They are known for their tshirts and jackets. In the picture above, I love how the black blazer and heels dress up the jeans. When I think of the Olsen twins, I think of glamour.

Fashion Inspiration in Book Form

One of the best books on style that I’ve ever read, if not the best, is Style A to Zoe by fashion stylist Rachel Zoe. In the her book, Rachel goes over everything to do with style from what accessories a girl needs to have, make up and hair tips, how to dress up for your own red carpet moment, and even advice on help on home decor. If I’m ever looking for motivation or inspiration when it comes to styling and getting pretty, I always know I can simply open up this book and I’ll be inspired.

Another great book for fashion inspiration is Style written by Lauren Conrad. This book also goes over different styling tips, including what items every girl should have in her wardrobe and tips on how to style different pieces together. I’ve always been a big fan of Lauren’s own personal style, so it’s no surprise that I fell in love with this book.

I don’t know about you, but there’s moments when I’d rather not get out of bed, better yet take any time to really get ready. Whenever I’m having one of these moments, I rely on these books to remind me of the confident and inspired feeling I’ll have once I take the time to really get ready and dress up.

Valentino Fall 2012

Valentino’s new Fall 2012 collection took me  by surprise. It wasn’t at all what I expected from Valentino. I would expect to see a lot of lace in a Valentino collection, but there was no lace seen in this collection. Instead, there was a lot of leather. There were a lot of long dresses. The collection was conservative, with not much skin showing.

There was a lot of beautiful clothing in the Valentino Fall 2012 collection, but I was a little disappointed. I’m not a big fan of the prints that were used and a lot of the dresses were more plain than what you’d expect from this designer. The outfit picture above is probably what I liked the best from the collection.

Colored Jeans Trend

 

I love the color green of these jeans. I have yet to try out the colored jean trend, but I think this green is such a good color. It’s not too bright, so it can be flattering for more body types. I’ve been slow to see if I can pull off the bright colored jeans, but I think I will definitely try out the darker shades!

Outfit Inspiration – March 4th, 2012

 

I am in love with this outfit. It’s simply, but not too plain. Your eye is drawn down to the shoes. I don’t think you can ever go wrong with a classic black blazer. I pair black blazers with so many different outfits. I especially love the longer length this blazer has. It’s very flattering.

Leather Pants – Good or Bad?

 

I’ve noticed that leather pants seem to be quite a popular trend of the moment. You can find them on the street, on the runway and on a variety of celebrities. I think it the leather pants look amazing on some people, but I don’t think it’s a trend that just anyone can pull off. It’s a trend that can easily go wrong. I have yet to try it.

What are your thoughts on leather pants or leather leggings? Is it in your wardrobe?

 

 

 

Oscars Red Carpet 2012

 

My favorite part of award shows is always seeing what the celebrities are wearing on the red carpet. Last night, there were so many beautiful dresses on the red carpet from the Oscars, which is one of the biggest award shows of the year. The night was full of color, with a variety of dresses in red, blue, and gold.

Some of the celebrities’ dresses that I loved the most were Cameron Diaz in Gucci Premiere, Anna Faris in Diane von Furstenberg and Kristin Wiig in J. Mendel (shown above). I love the simplicity of Kristin’s dress, yet it still has a princess feel to it.

I think this is such a cute look for a night out. It’s not too flashy, but it’s still glamorous. I don’t think you can ever go wrong with a black blazer and black pumps. The accessories are so cute as well.
